She was reported missing 2 months later by her common-law husband.From the beginning, Naraine Ramsammy told conflicting stories about his wife's disappearance, which occurred after his discovery that she was having an affair. Ramsammy's arrest, built upon his lethal threats to his wife's lover, his ever-changing explanations of Rabino's whereabouts, and their young son's account of a violent argument between his parents, would not come until 2006. In 2008 he was sentenced to life in prison. Following a state appellate decision in 2010, Ramsammy was released from prison in October 2010 due to lack of direct evidence.
